Iperinflazione e target di inflazione: il caso dell’Argentina

We will begin by defining hyperinflation and inflation targeting, explaining their economic impact and interrelation, situations where prices increase uncontrollably, eroding the purchasing power of the currency. Next, we will analyze the global economy across various countries, considering both developed and emerging markets and addressing inflation issues at different levels. We will also examine the initiatives and decisions taken by banks and governments to counter crises. Following this, we will focus on Argentina, which has experienced severe episodes of hyperinflation. We will analyze the intensity of these episodes and the strategies Argentina has employed to address them, including various stabilization plans and unsuccessful attempts at inflation targeting. Finally, we will compare Argentina's strategies over the years with inflation targeting, highlighting differences and exploring more effective strategies to achieve economic stability and development. This thesis aims to understand why inflation targeting has succeeded in several emerging countries but not in Argentina, addressing the complex challenge of managing inflation.
