Seamus Heaney, la poesia dell'Irlanda

This final disseration is about the poetic journey of Seamus Heaney and focuses on some of his most significant works: "Death of a Naturalist", "Field Work", "Human Chain", "District and Circle". The analysis explores the relationship between his stylistic evolution and the recurring themes in these collections: the relationship with the land, the difficult period of the Troubles, and the meaning of creating civil poetry. In this perspective, there is an emphasis on the circular rejoining between Heaney's private life and the major events that occur while he is alive. Particular attention is dedicated to the way in which this poet addresses themes such as nature, history, politics, and memory throughout the different stages of his career, with a focus on some of his most significant works, such as “Digging”, “Death of a Naturalis”t, “Anaorish”. The analysis of the selected works is developed through a critical and theoretical perspective that seeks to contextualize Heaney's work within the Irish poetic tradition and the worldwide one. The goal of this research is to examine how the poet articulates his visions, the influences that have shaped his poetics, and the connection between his personal life and poetic production. This dissertation also includes two original interviews with Brian Mc Cormick, Heaney's nephew and director of the Homeplace permanent exhibition in Bellaghy, and Leonardo Guzzo, one of the Italian translators of the poet. The photographic section was produced by the candidate during trips to Heaney's places in Ireland. ​

Questa tesi tratta del percorso poetico di Seamus Heaney e si concentra su alcune delle sue opere più significative: "Morte di un naturalista", "Field work", "Human chain", "District and circle". L'analisi esplora la relazione tra la sua evoluzione stilistica e le tematiche ricorrenti in queste raccolte: il rapporto con la terra, il difficile periodo dei Troubles e il significato del fare poesia civile. In quest'ottica si vuole evidenziare un ricongiungimento circolare tra la vita privata di Heaney e i grandi fatti che accadono mentre è in vita. Particolare attenzione è dedicata al modo in cui questo poeta affronta temi come la natura, la storia, la politica e la memoria nelle diverse fasi della sua carriera, con un affondo su alcuni dei suoi componimenti più significativi, come “Digging”, “Death of a Naturalist”, “Anaorish”. L'analisi delle opere selezionate si sviluppa attraverso una prospettiva critica e teorica che cerca di contestualizzare il lavoro di Heaney all'interno della tradizione poetica irlandese e di tutto il mondo. L'obiettivo di questo lavoro è esaminare come il poeta abbia articolato le sue visioni, le influenze che hanno modellato la sua poetica e la connessione tra la sua vita personale e la produzione poetica. Completano la dissertazione due interviste originali a Brian Mc Cormick, nipote di Heaney e direttore dell'esposizione permanente Homeplace di Bellaghy ed a Leonardo Guzzo, uno dei traduttori italiani del poeta. L'apparato fotografico è stato prodotto dalla candidata durante alcuni viaggi in Irlanda nel luoghi della memoria di Heaney. ​
