This thesis starts with the historical, legal, and political evolution of Armenia, tracing its journey from the establishment of the First Republic following World War I to its current post-Soviet state. A significant focus of this thesis is on Armenia's transition from Soviet rule to independence, with a particular emphasis on the challenges and opportunities encountered in the realm of legal reform. The Armenian Code of Civil Procedure is analyzed in depth as a critical component of this transformation, reflecting Armenia’s broader goals of democratization, adherence to the rule of law, and integration into the international community. The study highlights how post-Soviet Armenia has navigated complex challenges, including territorial disputes, corruption, and the legacy of Soviet legal practices, to develop a legal system that supports its aspirations for democracy and economic development. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the impact of international cooperation on Armenia's legal reforms, particularly its integration into the global legal community and its relationship with the European Union (EU). The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the EU is examined as a pivotal element in Armenia’s ongoing legal and political development.
