Analisi traduttiva comparata del Werther di Goethe: due traduzioni autoriali a confronto

This thesis is focused on a translation analysis of two translations of Goethe’s novel Die Leiden des jungen Werther. Through a first study on the translation process in a more general perspective, an in-depth analysis of the characteristics of literary translation and an investigation of the difficulties of the German-Italian translation, it was possible to develop a translation analysis of some extracts of the chosen novel. The thesis therefore is based on two chapters: a first chapter where the concept of the translation process is clarified and where the most peculiar characteristics of literary translation are explained. In a second paragraph, the difficulties and characteristics of the German-Italian translation are then explained through a comparison of the two languages by using some examples. The second chapter contains the translation analysis itself, where some interesting passages from the chosen novel are taken into study. Thanks to this analysis it was possible to compare two different translations which were equally optimal in every respect.

Alla base di questo elaborato vi è un’analisi in chiave traduttiva di due traduzioni dell’opera di Goethe, Die Leiden des jungen Werther o I dolori del giovane Werther. Attraverso un primo studio sul processo traduttivo in ottica più generale, un approfondimento sulle caratteristiche della traduzione letteraria e un’indagine sulle difficoltà della traduzione tedesco-italiano è stato possibile sviluppare un’analisi in chiave traduttiva di alcuni estratti dell’opera scelta. La tesi verte perciò su due capitoli: un primo capitolo dove fondamentalmente viene chiarito il concetto di processo traduttivo e dove vengono esposte le caratteristiche più peculiari della traduzione letteraria. In un secondo paragrafo vengono successivamente esposte le difficoltà e le caratteristiche riscontrabili della traduzione tedesco-italiano tramite un eventuale confronto delle due lingue attraverso alcuni esempi. Il secondo capitolo contiene invece l’analisi traduttiva vera e propria, dove vengono presi in studio alcuni passi più interessanti tratti dal romanzo scelto. Grazie a questa analisi è stato possibile comparare due traduzioni differenti risultate in egual modo ottimali sotto ogni aspetto. ​
