Le tecniche di traduzione audiovisiva. Proposta di sottotitolazione per il film Il Diario di Anna Frank.

The purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the field of audiovisual translation, in particular that of subtitling, in order to realise a personal proposal for subtitling the film "The Diary of Anne Frank". The choice of the film used to create the subtitles turned to the film "The Diary of Anne Frank" directed by Hans Steinbichler because it's a film in german mother tongue and, for this reason, it made possible to work directly on this language without any specialist having done so before. The text is divided in three chapters: the first one explains what audiovisual translation in general is about and then goes into the details of subtitling. It also analyses the case of the Italian-German language couple in this field. The second chapter, on the other hand, focuses on the Diary of Anne Frank: its history is explained and then its cinematographic production is also examined. In addition, the subject of the anti-Semitism of which Anne and her family were victims is discussed, and the foundations and museums created in her memory are introduced. And finally, the third chapter concerns the actual practical work, my proposal of subtitles to the film The Diary of Anne Frank. First of all, I contextualised the chosen episodes, then I inserted the lines of the film in the original language in a table accompanied by my subtitles, and then I ended with an analysis of the most difficult sequences and the reasons for my choices.

Il presente elaborato si propone di analizzare il campo della traduzione audiovisiva, in particolare quello della sottotitolazione, al fine di realizzare una proposta personale di sottotitolazione al film “Il Diario di Anna Frank”. La scelta del film utilizzato per realizzare i sottotitoli è ricaduta sul film del Diario di Anna Frank diretto dal regista Hans Steinbichler perché si tratta di un film in madrelingua tedesca e, proprio per questo, ha reso possibile lavorare in maniera diretta su questa lingua senza che nessun professionista l’abbia mai fatto prima. L’elaborato è articolato in tre capitoli: il primo spiega di cosa si occupa la traduzione audiovisiva in generale per poi scendere nei dettagli della sottotitolazione. Inoltre, viene analizzato anche il caso della coppia di lingue italiano e tedesco in quest’ambito. Il secondo capitolo, invece, si concentra sul diario di Anna Frank: viene spiegata la sua storia per poi conoscere anche la sua produzione cinematografica. Inoltre, si affronta il tema dell’antisemitismo di cui Anna e la sua famiglia sono stati vittima e si vengono a conoscere le fondazioni e i musei nati in sua memoria. Infine, il terzo capitolo ha come oggetto il vero e proprio lavoro pratico, ovvero la mia proposta di sottotitoli al film del diario di Anna Frank. Prima di tutto ho provveduto a contestualizzare gli episodi scelti, successivamente ho inserito in una tabella le battute del film in lingua originale accompagnate dai miei sottotitoli per poi terminare con l’analisi delle sequenze più difficili e con la motivazione delle mie scelte.
