Oltre l’arcobaleno: luoghi e sensi di comunità costruiti dall’iconografia Queer

This bibliographical research focuses on exploring the relationship between iconography and the construction of a sense of queer community, using the theoretical lenses of the semiotics of culture, critical political philosophy and adopting a post-structuralist approach. The in-depth examination of the concept of queer, exploring its origins and uses, is followed by a reflection on the process of re-appropriation of this term, highlighting its power in the theoretical and linguistic context as a space of identity. Subsequently, the analysis examines how queer culture constructs spaces of aggregation, focusing mainly on Michel Foucault's concept of heterotopia and Lotman's semiosphere. The investigation into the places and senses of queer communities seeks to identify their boundaries, translations and frictions with the rest of society. To conclude, this research aims to explore the formation of a sense of community among queer individuals, analysing both overt and covert symbols, from flags to ichthys. It continues with a comparative analysis of the importance of festivities as a unifying factor, highlighting similarities and oppositions between Pride and Christmas. This literature search attempts to illuminate complex semantic universes, recognising heteronormativity as a social rather than a natural product, at the same time demystifying elements of queer culture to make them intelligible. The ultimate goal is to promote a less polarised and more inclusive dialogue on the topic of gender and sexual orientation.

Questa ricerca bibliografica si concentra sull'esplorazione del rapporto tra iconografia e la costruzione del senso di comunità queer, avvalendosi delle lenti teoriche della semiotica della cultura, della filosofia politica critica e adottando un approccio post-strutturalista. L'approfondimento del concetto di queer, esplorandone origini e usi, è seguito da una riflessione sul processo di riappropriazione di questo termine, mettendo in evidenza la sua potenza nel contesto teorico e linguistico come spazio di identità. Successivamente, l'analisi esamina come la cultura queer costruisca spazi di aggregazione, focalizzandosi principalmente sul concetto di eterotopia di Michel Foucault e sulla semiosfera di Lotman. L'indagine sui luoghi e i sensi di comunità queer cerca di identificarne confini, traduzioni e attriti con il resto della società. In conclusione, questa ricerca si propone di esplorare la formazione di un senso di comunità tra individui queer, analizzando sia simboli evidenti che nascosti, dalle bandiere agli ichthys. Prosegue con un'analisi comparativa sull'importanza delle festività come fattore unificante, mettendo in luce similitudini e opposizioni tra il Pride e il Natale. Questa ricerca bibliografica tenta di illuminare universi semantici complessi, riconoscendo l'eteronormatività come un prodotto sociale anziché naturale, allo stesso tempo demistificare gli elementi della cultura queer per renderli intellegibili. L'obiettivo finale è promuovere un dialogo meno polarizzato e più inclusivo sul tema del genere e dell'orientamento sessuale.
