Maria Adriana Prolo e il Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino Un esempio pionieristico di imprenditoria culturale femminile

The central figure of this study is Maria Adriana Prolo, a historian from Piedmont in the early twentieth century and the founder of the National Museum of Cinema. This thesis aims to analyze, from an entrepreneurial perspective, the various stages that led Prolo to establish the museum: from the acquisition of exhibition pieces to funding, up to the present day. To this end, it is necessary to provide an overview of the film industry in Italy at the beginning of the twentieth century, with a particular focus on the city of Turin, globally recognized as the capital of silent cinema, and to trace the path of female entrepreneurship during the twentieth century. The first part of the thesis will focus on the historical and economic context of the city of Turin. The second part will analyze the role of women in the entrepreneurial sector focusing on the case of Maria Adriana Prolo, whose position lies at the intersection of the two previously described theme.
