The aim of this work is to understand if a crisis can bring value to a firm. To do so, the author decided to analyze a real business case of a company that incurred in a massive crash in the core business: Costa Crociere S.p.A. The crisis is seen as a moment of strong discontinuity in which the firm is forced to transform its processes and strategies in order to recover the damaged situation and, finally, relaunch the activities. The challenge is to find a model that lists a series of conditions by which the firm can support a minimum level of ambition able to build the future prosperity of the business. In this paper we try to apply existing theories to understand crisis dynamics and firm's strategy definition processes.

The challenge is to find a model that lists a series of conditions by which the firm can support a minimum level of ambition able to build the future prosperity of the business. In this paper we try to apply existing theories to understand crisis dynamics and firm's strategy definition processes.
