La presenza della microplastica in quattro differenti spiagge dell'isola di Lesbo: campionamento, analisi e discussione socio economica e ambientale. ​

After an introductory part showing the origin and use of different types of plastic, we proceed to illustrate the decay of the material in marine and terrestrial conditions (on different types of beaches), and then briefly analyse a sample of microplastic data found on the four beaches concerned. This is the step before the construction of a contingent valuation, which after having analyzed the data, aims to investigate the problem among the inhabitants of the island and not, from a socio-economic and environmental point of view, through targeted questions. To follow, the discussion of the data obtained through contingent valuation and the related conclusions. In the first part of the thesis are also reported some studies sases that aim to illustrate how the microplastic is spreading to the marine environment and along the entire extension of the water column. ​

Dopo una parte introduttiva dove si illustra origine ed impiego di differenti tipi di plastica, si procede ad illustrare il decadimento del materiale in condizioni marine e terrestri (su diversi tipi di spiagge), per poi brevemente analizzare un campione di dati di microplastiche rinvenute sulle quattro spiagge in questione. Questo è il passo antecedente alla costruzione di una valutazione contingente, che dopo aver analizzato i dati, si propone di investigare il problema tra gli abitanti dell'isola e non, in un ottica socio economica e ambientale, tramite domande mirate. A seguire, la discussione dei dati ottenuti tramite valutazione contingente e le relative conclusioni. Nella prima parte della tesi sono riportati anche dei casi studio che mirano ad illustrare come la microplastica si stia diffondendo a trecentosessanta gradi nell'ambiente marino e lungo tutta l'estensione della water column. ​
