The paper aims to reconstruct the steps that led to the construction of the myth of the Crimean War in the United Kingdom. In the paper there is an analysis of different sources with the aim of highlighting the lights and shadows that characterize a myth full of inconsistencies, errors and fallacious elements and, at the same time, pulling the strings of the memory still very strong today. in the UK. Part of the paper will focus on the most important event from the English point of view: the battle of Balaklava and the charge of the seventeenth century, which more than a success represents the peak of the manifestation of British military incompetence. Finally, a brief parallel between the construction of the British Crimea myth and that of the Kingdom of Sardinia.

L'elaborato si propone ricostruire i passaggi che hanno portato alla costruzione del mito della Guerra di Crimea nel Regno Unito. Nell'elaborato è presente un'analisi di diverse fonti con lo scopo di mettere in evidenza luci e ombre che caratterizzano un mito carico di incongruenze, errori ed elementi fallaci e, allo stesso tempo, tirare le fila della memoria tutt'oggi ancora molto forte nel Regno Unito. Parte dell'elaborato si concentrerà sull'evento più importante dal punto di vista inglese: la battaglia di Balaklava e la carica dei Seicento, che più che un successo rappresenta il punto massimo della manifestazione dell'incompetenza militare inglese. Infine, un breve parallelismo tra la costruzione del mito della Crimea britannico e quello del Regno di Sardegna.
