The 24 Books of the Odyssey are populated by a mixture of mortal and immortal women, queens, slaves, and even female monsters. The aim of this dissertation is to explore how free female characters are to speak in the poem, and the reaction of male characters to their words. I also investigate whether reading different translations of the Odyssey can influence our perception of female characters and their voices.

Abstract
The 24 Books of the Odyssey are populated by a mixture of mortal and immortal women, queens, slaves, and even female monsters. The aim of this dissertation is to explore how free female characters are to speak in the poem, and the reaction of male characters to their words. I also investigate whether reading different translations of the Odyssey can influence our perception of female characters and their voices.File in questo prodotto:
