The dissertation is focused on the maternity’s phenomenon in prison, a very frequent topic in Italian prison, that isn't known as it has to be. It’s presented the women’s prison, and then it’s linger and analyzed in particular maternity in this environment. In the first chapter is defined prison’s situation in Italy, explaining the different types of detention, the different types of structure and of the prison’s functions. In the second chapter is descripted maternity by a legislative perspective, presenting the different laws in force on this topic. After it’s presented the mother-son’s attachment bond, that it’s created in this place, considering the consequences reported by the missing father’s figure, and analyzing them. In the third chapter, we focus on the educator figure, in to this environment, describing his function and his work, aim the attention on the presence between mother and son relationship

La dissertazione punta il suo interesse sul fenomeno della maternità all’interno delle strutture detentive, una questione molto frequente nelle carceri Italiane, ma del quale si conosce molto poco. Si presenta quello che è il carcere femminile, per poi soffermarsi ed analizzare nello specifico la maternità all’interno delle strutture carcerarie . Nel primo capitolo si va a mostrare quella che è la situazione detentiva in Italia, in generale, parlando così dei tipi di detenzione, dei tipi di strutture e delle funzioni del carcere. Nel secondo capitolo si analizza a livello legislativo la detenzione materna, andando a esporre le diverse leggi che sono in vigore riguardo questo fenomeno. Si illustra in seguito il legame di attaccamento mamma- bambino, che si crea all’interno di questo contesto, tenendo conto anche delle conseguenze riportate della mancanza della figura paterna ed analizzando anche quest’ultimo. Nel terzo capitolo invece ci si sofferma sulla figura dell’educatore all’interno della struttura carceraria, illustrando la sua funzione e il suo lavoro, puntando l’attenzione sulla sua presenza all’interno della diade mamma-bambino.
