Alfredo il Grande: il primo re d'Inghilterra

Alfred the Great, who lived in the second half of 9th century, is considered the first king of England. This work offers an analysis of his character based on the two main sources of that time, the AngloSaxon Chronicle and Asser's biography ” De Rebus Gestis Aelfredi”. In particular, the thesis will draw attention to the most important events where his figure is exalted for his salvific role in the deliverance of England from the Viking enemy.

Alfredo il grande, vissuto nella seconda metà del IX secolo, è considerato il primo re d'Inghilterra. Questo lavoro propone un' analisi del suo personaggio sulla base delle due fonti principali dell'epoca, la Cronaca anglosassone e l'opera biografica ”De Rebus Gestis Aelfredi” di Asser. In particolare, si metteranno in evidenza gli eventi principali che esaltano la sua figura per il ruolo salvifico che ebbe nella liberazione dell'Inghilterra dal nemico vichingo.
