Da skazka a fairy tale: come la traduzione inglese trasmette il folklore russo delle fiabe di Afanas'ev

This Dissertation aims to examine the way the English translation can transmit the Russian folklore of the original folktales from the collection of the Russian folklorist A.N. Afanas'ev. The goal is to show the different translation strategies used in order to level out all linguistic (grammar, syntax, vocabulary) and cultural differences that are found during the translation process. This also requires to consider the translator's will of giving a more or less faithful translation of the original, according to the type o readers it is destined to. First, the main characteristics of the three examined folktales are explained, then the original and its translation are compared and analyzed in details. To conclude, a final comment on the results of the analysis is given. ​

Questa Dissertazione si propone di esaminare la maniera in cui la traduzione in lingua inglese trasmette il folklore russo delle fiabe originali, tratte dalla raccolta del folklorista russo A. N. Afanas'ev. Lo scopo è illustrare le diverse strategie traduttive che vengono adottate per poter livellare tutte le differenze linguistiche (grammatica, sintassi, vocabolario) e culturali che si presentano durante il processo di traduzione, tenendo anche in considerazione la volontà del traduttore di fornire una traduzione più o meno fedele all'originale in base al pubblico alla quale è destinata. Delle tre fiabe prese in esame inizialmente sono spiegate le caratteristiche principali, a seguire vi è il confronto dei testi originali con le loro rispettive traduzioni e l'analisi dettagliata della traduzione e, infine, un commento riassuntivo su quanto emerso dalle analisi. ​
