However, it is easy to imagine how its use has also extended to people, who do not suffer from this deficit. In fact, not surprisingly, Adderall is mistakenly as the “Holy Grail” for students and athletes, as its popularity is due to the claim that the drug can improve cognitive and sports performances. But what are the real effects of amphetamines and Adderall? Do they really can improve any kind of performance or is it just a false belief? And what is behind the real motivation for using stimulant drugs, among students and athletes? This paper explores amphetamines in their totality, providing information on their history, their mechanisms of action and their effects. It also explores the Adderall and Smart drug of doping, from experiments conducted on students and athletes, to the impact of these on contemporary American society.

Negli ultimi anni, la società americana è caratterizzata da un abuso costante di farmaci stimolanti, in particolare è consuetudine tra i giovani abusare di Adderall. Un medicinale costituito principalmente da amfetamine, è utilizzato nella cura contro l’ADHD (Disturbo da Deficit dell’Attenzione e Iperattività). Tuttavia, è facile immaginare come il suo utilizzo si sia facilmente esteso, anche a chi non né affetto da tale deficit. Infatti, non a caso l’Adderall viene erroneamente considerato come il “Sacro Graal” di studenti e atleti, in quanto si pensa possa migliorare le prestazioni cognitive e sportive. Ma quali sono i reali effetti delle amfetamine e dell’Adderall? Davvero hanno la capacità di migliorare qualsiasi tipo di prestazione o è solo una falsa credenza? E cosa c’è in fondo alla vera motivazione di utilizzo dei famaci stimolanti, tra studenti ed in particolare atleti? Questo elaborato esplora le amfetamine nel loro insieme, dando informazioni sulla loro storia, sui loro meccanismi di azione e sui loro effetti sull’organismo, concentrandosi in particolare sull’Adderall e lo Smart drug del doping, riportando i risultati degli esperimenti condotti su studenti e sportivi e, l’impatto di questi stimolanti sul contesto sociale americano odierno.
