How cultures, believes, traditions, costumes and so many more aspects influence people thinking. Then the last chapter is focused on presenting the last wave, the fourth one which is the one in which we are currently living. Completely different in the means (like internet and social media) which is using to contrast the patriarchy, the core spirit of the fight is the same as the previous waves. This chapter, if it is not the most is without doubt among one of them. It shows how despite all the efforts of feminists in the 20th century, a lot of things still don't work properly. Situation like the one in Afghanistan and the living condition of women or the one in the USA concerning the limitation to the right of abortion, are just the tip of the iceberg, two examples taken to show how still inequality is evident and present in our society. Instead of proceeding forwards, we are taking steps back. That is why, it is fundamental to know the history behind the right that we hold today, in order not to take them for granted and allow people to take them away from us.

Abstract

In the first chapter an analysis of the origin of the movements which led women to a modern condition is present. A description of the different waves which shaped the living condition of the woman that we know today, is present. For each the characteristics, the goals and the main protagonists like Betty Friedan or Gloria Steinmen are analyzed, underlying the great advancement which they contributed to achieve. The second chapter is then focused on the situation of more specific areas in particular of Europe and America. In this part of the elaborate, how different countries reacted and responded to the waves of feminism are presented. We can find the France point of view with the contribution of Olympe de Gouges, then the Italian, German, English and American ones, giving to the reader the possibility of knowing the different reactions to these phenomenons. The same goal is the one that can be found behind chapter three, where the same situation is present taking into account this time the Asian and African cultures. The purpose of this is to raise awareness inside the readers minds on how the same event led to so many various scenarios dealing with the same object: stopping disparity.
