This thesis explores the impact of cyberspace on state sovereignty, a concept that has been fundamental to the international system since the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648. Cyberspace challenges traditional notions of state sovereignty through its borderless nature, blurring the distinction between military and civilian affairs and increasing the challenges to control activities within state borders. States have responded through greater control and regulation of cyberspace and the development of international norms and agreements. However, the implications of cyberspace for international law and the international order remain unclear, and there is ongoing debate about the need for new legal frameworks. Concerns exist about the use of cyberspace as a tool of state repression or in conflicts between states due to factors such as anonymity, low cost, potential for damage, lack of international norms and rules, and rapid technological change in cyberspace. However, it has also offered new opportunities that have improved communication between humans through the rise of video conferencing technology. It has also enhanced efficiency by making it possible for people to work remotely, thereby reducing the need for travel and therefore lowering transportation costs. Access to information is now made easy to all because with just a few clicks people can now access vast amounts of information on virtually any topic and this has revolutionized education, research, and decision-making in many fields. In addition, it also brought about economic growth that has created new job opportunities for people by promoting entrepreneurship and enabling businesses to expand their reach globally. For instance, online marketplaces such as Amazon and Alibaba, or eBay have transformed the retail industry, making it possible for small businesses to reach a global market. While it is important to manage the risks associated with the use of cyberspace, it is also important to seize these opportunities in a responsible and ethical manner. However, as cyberspace continues to evolve its impact on state sovereignty and international relations will be significant.

Abstract
However, as cyberspace continues to evolve its impact on state sovereignty and international relations will be significant.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
