La linguistica romanza nel pensiero di Alberto Varvaro: l'ipotesi del «latino sommerso».

In my study I have analysed the issue of the Romanic 'origines', particularly focusing on the innovative notion of «submerged Latin» or «sub-sub-standard» proposed by Alberto Varvaro and based on James Noel Adams' studies. In the first section I have collected the different theories that have been trying to explain the problem of the 'origines' throughout history, paying particular attention to the notion of «vulgar Latin» and «protoromance». The second section was dedicated to the theory of «submerged Latin» namely, a sub-standard linguistic level of the latin language which shows a series of phenomenons which are typical of the spoken language and never appear in the written language since they are perceived by the speaker as particularly low.

Nel mio elaborato ho analizzato il problema delle 'origini' romanze, soffermandomi in particolare sull'innovativo concetto di «latino sommerso» o «sub-sub-standard» elaborato da Alberto Varvaro partendo dagli studi di James Noel Adams. Nella prima parte ho raccolto le ipotesi che nel corso della storia hanno cercato di spiegare il problema delle 'origini', mettendo in luce soprattutto i concetti di «latino volgare» e «protoromanzo». Nella seconda parte mi sono occupata dell'ipotesi del «latino sommerso», cioè un livello linguistico sub-sub-standard della lingua latina nel quale sono presenti una serie di fenomeni propri della lingua orale che non emergono mai a livello della scrittura in quanto percepiti come bassissimi dal parlante.
