L'evoluzione femminile nel giallo per ragazzi: Nancy Drew

The discussion of the thesis is focused on the analysis of the series Nancy Drew, writed by Edward Stratemeyer and published in 1930 in America. Initially it talks about the hystoric contest which is the Great Depression in the United States, and how the role of adolescents it's seen in the adult's world. The reported key points are: the origin of the series, why it was born, who is behind the writer Carolyn Keene, who are the main characters in the story. Afterwords it analyse the changes and transformations that took place in the texts over time, taking into consideration the age in which the texts were written and how the main character managed to arrive to readers in the XIX century. Lastly it takes into account which covers have been used for the books, in order to observe the changes in image that look place over time.

L'obiettivo della tesi è quello di analizzare la serie Nancy Drew, scritta da Edward Stratemeyer e pubblicata nel 1930 in America. Inizialmente si parla del contesto storico ovvero la Grande Depressione Americana e di come è vista la figura dell'adolescente da parte del mondo degli adulti. I punti chiave riportati sono l'origine della serie, perché è nata, chi si cela dietro la scrittrice Carolyn Keene e chi sono i personaggi principali all'interno della storia. Successivamente si analizzano le trasformazioni che nel corso del tempo sono avvenute nei testi, tenendo conto dell'epoca in cui i libri sono scritti e di come il personaggio si sia mantenuto in vita fino al XIX secolo. Infine si prende in considerazione quali sono le copertine utilizzate per i libri, così da osservare i cambiamenti di illustrazione avvenuti.
