IT Strategy e IT operating model - definizioni e sinergia con pratiche agile

The thesis has the goal to illustrate, both theoretically and practically, the meaning of IT Strategy, with a focus on IT Operating Model, in structured national business contexts, from both a technological and business perspective. In order to achieve this goal, the work is divided into two parts: the first one is regarding the introduction to the business context in which the internship was done and the theoretical information gathered about the core topics of IT Strategy and IT Operating Model, providing evidence on the different types of archetypes that can be implemented in various business contexts, their correlation to different degrees of agility consistently with the continuous development of interaction between business and tech areas, and finally mentioning the ways of working and how they tend to change in the face of modifications of operational models. The second part, on the other hand, focuses on a practical context, namely a real use case, which was defined theoretically, referring to the request for revision of an operational model of an Italian fintech giant, highlighting best practices both in the design phase and at the strategic level. The final chapter of the document was written with the intention of communicating to the reader the importance of work experience, both in terms of technical and cross-functional skills, and in the acquisition of awareness of the close interaction between the world of business and that of information technology. 

La tesi è volta a illustrare in forma teorica e pratica il significato di IT Strategy, con focus su IT Operating Model, in contesti aziendali strutturati nazionali, sia da un punto di vista tecnologico che business. Al fine di traguardare l'obiettivo citato, l'elaborato è suddiviso in due parti: la prima relativa all'introduzione al contesto aziendale in cui è stato svolto il tirocinio e alle informazioni teoriche raccolte circa le tematiche core di IT Strategy e IT Operating Model portando evidenze sui diversi tipi di archetipi implementabili nei vari contesti aziendali, la loro correlazione a diversi gradi di agilità coerentemente al continuo sviluppo d’interazione delle aree business e tech e infine citando le ways of working e come esse tendano a cambiare a fronte di modifiche dei modelli operativi. La seconda parte invece cala in un contesto pratico, ovvero in uno use case reale, ciò che è stato definito in modo teorico, facendo riferimento alla richiesta di revisione di un modello operativo di un colosso fintech italiano mettendo in risalto le best practice sia in fase progettuale che a livello strategico. Il capitolo finale del documento è stato redatto con l'intento di comunicare al lettore l'importanza dell'esperienza lavorativa, sia in termini di competenze tecniche e trasversali, sia nell'acquisizione della consapevolezza dell'interazione stretta tra il mondo del business e quello dell'informatica.
