Il lato oscuro del rapporto tra allenatori e atleti: abusi, molestie, maltrattamenti e aggressioni.

The relationship between coaches and athletes is unique. Coaches are those figures who will support athletes throughout their entire sporting career. To this end, coaches are sometimes asked to take on the role of educators, other times that of trainers, technicians, organizers, friends and mentors. In this way, coaches lead athletes to achieve those goals that they would not be able to achieve on their own and support them throughout the entire journey of sporting and personal growth. Therefore, progress, victories, sporting affirmation and the very self-esteem of athletes can be influenced by the words, gestures and decisions of coaches, figures who are sometimes loved and idealized. As can be seen from the analysis of the literature, the relationship between coaches and athletes is complex by its nature and, unfortunately, studies show that the risk that this leads to behavior characterized by abuse, violence and harassment is increasingly increasing, where athletes are mostly the victims. The aim of this paper is to bring to light such behaviors within the relationship between coaches and athletes, describing the circumstances, factors and dynamics that trigger the violent behavior of coaches, so that this can be brought to the center of attention of all sports organizations, who are invited to mobilize in order to develop prevention and intervention programs to support the victims.

Il rapporto tra allenatori e atleti è unico. Gli allenatori sono quelle figure che affiancheranno gli atleti durante l’intera carriera sportiva. A tal fine, agli allenatori è richiesto talvolta di assumere il ruolo di educatori, altre volte quello di formatori, tecnici, organizzatori, amici e mentori. In questo modo, gli allenatori conducono gli atleti alla conquista di quegli obiettivi che da soli non sarebbero in grado di raggiungere e li sostengono durante l’intero percorso di crescita sportiva e personale. Dunque, progressi, vittorie, affermazione sportiva e la stessa autostima degli atleti possono essere influenzati dalle parole, dai gesti e dalle decisioni degli allenatori, figure che a volte vengono amate e idealizzate. Come si evince dall’analisi della letteratura, il rapporto tra allenatori e atleti per sua natura è complesso e, purtroppo, gli studi mostrano come stia aumentando sempre più il rischio che questo sfoci in un comportamento caratterizzato da abusi, violenze e molestie, dove ad essere vittime sono per lo più gli atleti. Lo scopo del presente elaborato è quello di portare alla luce tali comportamenti all’interno della relazione tra allenatori e atleti, descrivendo le circostanze, i fattori e le dinamiche che scatenano il comportamento violento degli allenatori, affinché questo possa essere portato al centro dell’attenzione di tutte le organizzazioni sportive, le quali sono invitate a mobilitarsi al fine di elaborare programmi di prevenzione e intervento a sostegno delle vittime.
