Il pianismo di Sergej Eduardovic Bortkevic. Un’indagine attraverso temi ricorrenti

Sergej Eduardovic Bortkevic is relatively unknown nowadays. The paper proposes an investigation into the Ukrainian composer, born in the territory of the former Russian Empire. The first part of the dissertation reconstructs the composer’s life and career through his autobiography, concert programs and letters to his Dutch friend and colleague Hugo van Dalen. In the second part, the focus shifts to the narrative and descriptive characteristics of the piano compositions, exploring recurring themes such as childhood, history and landscape.

Sergej Eduardovic Bortkevic rimane tutt’oggi una figura poco nota. Questo elaborato propone un’indagine sul compositore ucraino, nato nel territorio dell’allora Impero Russo. Dapprima si ricostruisce la vita e la carriera del compositore tramite l’autobiografia, i programmi dei concerti e le lettere all’amico e collega olandese Hugo van Dalen. Successivamente, il focus si sposta sulle caratteristiche narrative e descrittive della produzione pianistica, indagando alcuni temi ricorrenti come l’infanzia, il paesaggismo e la storia.
