Ecuador has the second greatest rate of child chronic undernutrition among all the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean only after Guatemala. Within the Andean Community, Ecuador has the highest rate of child undernutrition despite having the lowest rates of unemployment and poverty in the region. Therefore, this thesis analyses the issue of child undernutrition in Ecuador between the years 2016 and 2021 comparing data with other Andean Community members. For this purpose, determinant issues such access to food, unemployment, poverty, nutrition policies and different programs are examined. This work offers ways to improve the health and well-being of Ecuador’s children population while also shedding light on the potential and problems faced in addressing child undernutrition in the nation.
