This thesis offers a holistic examination of an increasingly significant issue of grave concern in cloud computing; environmental sustainability in data centres. The paper begins by reviewing the current situation of things in the technology industry, pinpointing the critical energy consumption and carbon emissions generated from or associated with data centres. Further, it explores the numerous challenges and opportunities in mitigating the ecological impact of data centres through using the negative ecological impact of data facilities via the utilisation of alternative sources of energy, resource-efficient infrastructure and cooling techniques, and green storage and data transmission practices, among other things. Additionally, this thesis attempts a detailed analysis of the effectiveness of these strategies, referencing case studies and key empirical evidence from the technology industry. In addition to this, it will also examine the role of stakeholders in promoting sustainability, including the role of data centre operators, technology companies, and policy makers. While conceding that progress has been made, the thesis, in conclusion, however, stresses the need for more collaboration between stakeholders in the technology industry, highlighting that more work has to be done to achieve environmental sustainability in data centres and create a sustainable future. The paper concludes by providing a valuable contribution to the literature on environmental sustainability in data centres by offering new insights, recommendations, and a call to action, for a more a proactive approach in strengthening the ideals of sustainability in the technology industry.

Abstract
The paper concludes by providing a valuable contribution to the literature on environmental sustainability in data centres by offering new insights, recommendations, and a call to action, for a more a proactive approach in strengthening the ideals of sustainability in the technology industry.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
