SOCIOLOGIA DELLO SPORT: STUDIO SULL'EQUITAZIONE MILITARE

Sociology is the science that focuses on social phenomena, investigating their causes and manifestations, and aims to study society using a method similar to that of the natural sciences in order to identify the fundamental laws that govern it. The analysis of society can be conducted on general topics or by narrowing the research field to particularly significant sectors or areas. Among these, scholars have clearly defined the sociology of sport and physical activity as a fully-fledged branch of the subject. Within this scope, the necessary elements for a cultural analysis revolving around the relationship between humans and horses, and thus, equestrianism, will be proposed. In this way, it is possible to outline the characteristic elements of equestrian activities in relation to their social impact and the visible and assessable sociological phenomena that constitute the subject of study. The main focus of this empirical analysis is Military Horse Riding, appropriately defined as the set of equestrian activities carried out by the Armed Forces, specifically narrowing it down to the Italian Army. How is socialization promoted? What are the values that regulate behaviors and relationships between individuals or groups? How are the objectives achieved? These are some of the questions that have stimulated research and data processing in order to support the proposed theories and present useful case studies for defining the overall framework. This study was made possible thanks to the collaboration established with officers operating in the equestrian sector of the Army, who were willing to share their personal experiences through interviews and data sharing

La sociologia è la scienza che ha per oggetto i fenomeni sociali indagati nelle loro cause e manifestazioni e si propone di studiare la società con un metodo analogo a quello delle scienze naturali, allo scopo di individuare le leggi fondamentali che la governano . L’ analisi della società può essere condotta su temi generali o restringendo il campo di ricerca a settori o ambiti particolarmente significativi. Tra questi, gli studiosi hanno definito in maniera chiara la sociologia dello sport e dell’ attività fisica come una branca della materia a tutti gli effetti. All’ interno di questo ambito di competenza, verranno proposti gli elementi necessari ad un’ analisi culturale che ruota 360° intorno al rapporto uomo-cavallo e, quindi, all’ equitazione. In questo modo è possibile delineare gli elementi caratteristici delle attività equestri, in relazione con l’ impatto sociale che hanno e con i fenomeni sociologici visibili, e quindi valutabili, che ne costituiscono elemento di studio. Oggetto principale di tale analisi empirica è costituito dall’ Equitazione Militare, opportunamente definita come l’ insieme delle attività equestri svolte dalle Forze Armate, in particolare restringendone il campo all’ Esercito Italiano. In che modo viene promossa la socializzazione? Quali sono i valori che regolano i comportamenti e le relazioni tra singoli o tra gruppi? Come vengono raggiunti gli obbiettivi? Sono alcune delle domande che hanno stimolato la ricerca e l’ elaborazione di dati, al fine di supportare le teorie proposte e presentare dei case study utili alla definizione del quadro generale. Lo studio è stato possibile grazie alla collaborazione instaurata con Ufficiali che operano nel comparto equestre dell’ Esercito, disponibili a condividere le loro personali esperienze, attraverso interviste e condivisione di dati.
