Gig Economy and Job Quality: Lived Experience of Gig Workers in Bangladesh

This article has been written to identify the job quality of the gig workers of Bangladesh in terms of balancing the professional life and the personal life. To identify the job quality, narrative analysis for examining the data has been applied which is based on the interview centered qualitative study. It has been found that the gig workers of Bangladesh are going through melancholic conditions in terms of their working hours, workplace facilities and job environment which are hindering their harmony in between their work life and family life. To overcome this vulnerable situation of the gig workers of Bangladesh, urgent modification should be adopted in the labour laws of Bangladesh with necessary imposition of the rules and regulation to ensure the labour rights of the gig workers and protect them from being depleted by the intermediary platforms. Thus, the author has also recommended some policies to accelerate the betterment of the gig workers of Bangladesh which will assist the gig workers to improve their ability to maintain balance in their professional and personal life.
