Gilka Machado: la donna, la poetessa e l'opera Mulher Nua

At the beginning of the XXth the voice of Gilka Machado courageously broke into the conservative panorama of Brazil. She was a woman, who challenged the imposed rules and inverted the prearranged roles. Through her poems, women gained active voice and were no more objectified. Her verses' transcendent erotism shocked her contemporaries and aroused several harsh critics against her. The aim of this dissertation is to bring to light an author that has been ignored for too long and to understand her historical context through the most important moments of her life. Here, they are first analysed the literary context she belongs to and then the reaction of the critique to her works. Finally, the analysis is on her poetry and her works, in particular on the collection Mulher Nua, focusing on some selected literary works of it.

Nel Brasile conservatore degli inizi del XX secolo irrompe con audacia la voce di Gilka Machado, una donna che sfida le norme imposte e inverte i ruoli prestabiliti. Nelle sue poesie prende parola la donna, che da oggetto assume lo status di soggetto. L'erotismo trascendente dei suoi versi sconvolse i contemporanei, che non si trattennero dal criticarla spietatamente. La dissertazione ha l'obiettivo di riportare alla luce un nome per troppo tempo ignorato, cercando di comprendere il contesto storico in cui Gilka nasce e scrive e quali sono stati gli eventi più salienti della sua vita. Si analizza il contesto letterario in cui la poetessa si colloca e come la critica si è posta nei suoi confronti, per esaminare infine la poetica presente nelle opere e in particolare la terza, Mulher Nua, approfondendo alcuni componimenti scelti tratti da essa.
