Through the Screen Darkly: traduzione intersemiotica, rotoscope e transmedialità

The aim of this thesis is to address a compared analysis about Dick's novel A Scanner Darkly and the Linklater's cinematographic adaptation. In particularly, this essay attempt to illustrate the links between the two works and the techniques adopted by the American director to transport on the big screen the lysergic and highly autobiographic tragedy of Dick. The first chapter provide an introduction to the theoretical frameworks necessary for the analysis, the second chapter analyzes Dick's novel, and the last one is focused on the adaptation with a particular attention to the phenomena that characterize the audiovisual industry.

Nel corso di questo lavoro esporremo un'analisi comparata del romanzo A Scanner Darkly di Philip K. Dick e dell'omonimo adattamento cinematografico di Richard Linklater. Tenteremo di mettere in luce i rapporti che intercorrono tra le due opere e le tecniche che sono state adottate dal regista americano per trasportare sul grande schermo la tragedia lisergica e altamente autobiografica di Dick. Il primo capitolo fornirà un'introduzione agli strumenti teorici che verranno adottati nell'analisi dei due testi, il secondo sarà invece interamente dedicato a Dick e al romanzo oggetto d'analisi, infine ci concentreremo sull'adattamento con un'attenzione particolare ai fenomeni che caratterizzano l'industria audiovisiva.
