Der Struwwelpeter. Un libro illustrato del Dr. Heinrich Hoffmann

The present essay begins with an analysis of the factors that contributed to the publication of the Struwwelpeter; after having outlined the biographical profile of the author in the first chapter, in the second we better define the Biedermeier period within its historical-literary framework while describing in the third the editorial circumstances that discovered, transformed and rose to worldwide fame a manuscript originally meant for private and family use only. A complete review of the stories read from the German version of the book currently on market is offered by the fourth chapter. We lastly focus on the adaptation and diffusion in Italy and we mention some of the countless alternative versions inspired by Dr. Heinrich Hoffmann's original Lustige Geschichten und drollige Bilder.

All'interno di questa disamina si analizzano dapprima i fattori che hanno contribuito alla pubblicazione dello Struwwelpeter; dopo aver delineato il profilo biografico dell'autore nel primo capitolo, nel secondo si definisce meglio il quadro storico-letterario dell'epoca Biedermeier, descrivendo quindi nel terzo le circostanze pubblicistico-editoriali che hanno intercettato, trasformato e reso noto su scala mondiale un manoscritto originariamente concepito per un uso esclusivamente privato e familiare. Il quarto capitolo offre una rassegna completa delle storie, tratte dalla versione tedesca attualmente in commercio, e si osservano infine nel quinto e nel sesto i casi specifici della diffusione in Italia dell'opera e di alcune delle innumerevoli versioni ispirate all'originale Lustige Geschichten und drollige Bilder del Dr. Hoffmann.
