In the thesis three articles will be presented concerning the subtle role that m6A epistrascriptomic modification plays in long-term memory consolidation. The deposition of the modification has been proven enhanced upon experience in transcripts related to synaptic plasticity, linking it to LTP processes. Knock out of FTO and METTL3, eraser and writer of m6A respectively, have highlighted memory formation perturbation in mice models and changes in elecrophysiological features in neurons cultured in vitro, as well as changes in protein levels of the tagged genes. Finally, YTHDF1, reader of m6A, has been proposed as the mean through which m6A signal is able to enhance translation of tagged transcripts.

Abstract
File | Dimensione | Formato | |
