Technical analysis is a type of analysis consisting on the study of past price trends of various financial assets in order to predict future movements and make a profit, by investing and risking capital. The main objective of technical analysis is to identify specific points on the chart, which we call levels, to entry (buy) or exit (sell) from the market. These analysis are made by the traders and investors through the use of specific tools based on a mathematical-statistical approach, called indicators, that can can give us a competitive advantage and that help us to find the "market timing', i.e. the precise moment in which to open or close our positions on the market. This approch to the financial markets, does not consider the market as a mechanism perfectly rational and efficient, but takes into account external factors that can affect prices, such as fear and greed, as those who operate in the markets tends to repeat their actions and therefore also their mistakes over time, thus leading the technical analyst not to care if the current price is correct and rational or not, but only to try to be in the right trend at the right time. Technical analysis is a type of analysis that can be used for the study of various types of financial instruments( stocks, commodities, indexes, cfd ... ), with different time objectives, short term speculation, or long term investments, making it a very versatile type, but from the other side, this analysis is not useful in tha same way for all kind of assets, such as bond market or options, and it is not used by of investors who prefer the "buy and hold" strategy, thus, purchase of instruments such as stocks of non-speculative corporations just to take them and gain the dividends paied during the years or investment funds, to be held in the own wallet for decades.
