L'EVOLUZIONE DEGLI INVESTIMENTI SOSTENIBILI DALLE ORIGINI AD OGGI, E L'IMPORTANZA CHE RICOPRONO NEL PANORAMA ECONOMICO FINANZIARIO.

The main purpose of my thesis is to bring the reader closer to the world of sustainability in the economic and financial sector, through the investment landscape, and at the same time to show how important the financial markets are, and play a key role in the allocation of resources, which will increasingly be directed towards projects and activities that in addition to general interesting profits, are useful to the environment and at the same time to society. In order to have a wide-ranging vision, the first part of the paper I dedicated to the origins of sustainable investments, and how and where the concept of Environmental, Social & Governance was born. I then mentioned the most significant institutional sector interventions that have affected the last few years, and the social ideologies that have accompanied them. In the second part of the paper, however, i focused and deepened two interesting financial instruments from the point of view of sustainable finance, namely Green Bonds and Mutual Funds, as well as focusing on some significant regulatory interventions in the banking sector.

Lo scopo principale della mia tesi è quello di far avvicinare il lettore al mondo della sostenibilità in ambito economico finanziario, attraverso il panorama degli investimenti, e contemporaneamente far trasparire quanto i mercati finanziari siano importanti, e giochino un ruolo chiave nell’allocazione delle risorse, che verranno sempre più indirizzate verso progetti ed attività che oltre a generale profitti interessanti, siano utili all’ambiente ed allo stesso tempo alla società. Per avere una visione ad ampio raggio, la prima parte dell’elaborato l’ho dedicata alle origini degli investimenti sostenibili, e di come e da dove nasce il concetto di Environmental, Social & Governance. Successivamente ho menzionato gli interventi istituzionali di settore più significativi che hanno interessato gli ultimi anni, e le ideologie sociali che li hanno accompagnati. Nella seconda parte dell’elaborato invece, mi sono soffermata e ho approfondito due strumenti finanziari interessanti dal punto di vista della finanza sostenibile, ovvero i Green Bonds ed i fondi comuni di investimento, nonché ho posto l’attenzione su alcuni interventi normativi significativi in ambito bancario.
