Artificial intelligence has proved to be a rule-breaking technology in every field of our lives. It constantly reminds us of what we can create and implement in the name of progress and has reshaped our reality and our relationships in a problematic way to revert. Its applications are numerous and diverse. This paper aims to analyze the weight of its contribution in three crucial scenarios: warfare environment, civil scenarios, and healthcare availability. The first chapter will describe artificial intelligence’s main features, giving a brief explanation of how it was conceived and the process for it to be efficient; The second chapter of this essay will treat the application of AI in military scenarios, describing Athena, an AI produced in Australia for military uses and their possible deployment in conjunction with regular forces. The third chapter is dedicated to civil applications of AI and describes the usage of autonomous driving vehicles, AIs applied to physical stores, and even AIs capable of monitoring and controlling a whole city, such as Apsara, Alibaba’s state-of-art engine. The last chapter is dedicated to using AI in a national healthcare system, considering the United Kingdom. Artificial intelligence can help take off the burden from many physicians, giving them time to focus on the patient solely and, in some cases, such as in Babylon Health application, even substitute entirely human interaction. The main idea of this paper is that artificial intelligence should not be demonized or idolized but regulated. Governments and institutions must pose clear and solid barriers to what can and cannot be done for the people to get all the benefits and none of the shortcomings.

Abstract
Governments and institutions must pose clear and solid barriers to what can and cannot be done for the people to get all the benefits and none of the shortcomings.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
