This study is aimed to analyse the descriptions made of the US Capitol attack by three American news outlets’ Twitter accounts, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and Fox News, with the objective of identifying how different ideologies are reflected in the construction of discordant narratives. The research is centred around Jeffries’ methodology, with each chapter focused on one aspect of Critical Stylistics analysis, then further supported by additional semantic devices as required. This approach has been effective to assess the opposing views of the outlets analysed and how the many differences are reflected in the respective reports.
