L'Argomento Dominatore di Diodoro Crono

L'Argomento Dominatore è stato formulato attorno al 300 A.C. e, seppure le tracce che ci sono pervenute circa la sua struttura sono assai scarse, sappiamo che era un forte argomento in favore dell'incoerenza dell'esistenza di possibili non realizzati. La parte I prende in esame ciascuna delle tre premesse dell'argomento, come ci sono state riportate da Epitteto. La parte II invece prende in esame alcune proposte moderne circa sia la ricostruzione che la formalizzazione dell'argomento.

The Master Argument was formulated around 300 B.C. and, even if most traces of its form have been lost, its fame lasts up to the present as having been a strong proof in favour of the necessary actualisation of the possible. §I will deal in turn with each of the three premises which Epictetus reports as having been the only assumptions the argument used to start from. In §II we will consider, criticise and examine some modern proposals on both the reconstruction and the formalisation of the argument.
