Abstract

The final report is about periurban agriculture and in particular about the analysis of agricultural models that are more widespread in these areas. Periurban agricultural, although it doesn't match to a univocal definition, is defined by the FAO as an agriculture that works around the city, with it competes and can provide it additional services, required from the urban population. These requests are satisfied from the formation and the spread of agricultural models related to the use of the citizens. Among the most popular models around the city there are farmhouses, agri butchers or agri ice cream parlors or agri delicatessens, educational farms and structures that cover at the same time two or more of these functions. The report examines one of the numerous possible methods to classify the periurban areas throw the analysis of a scientific article. This article is about the classification, made by some researchers of the University of Bologna, of the areas in the east periphery of the city of Bologna. The found five rural land classes, that can be grouped into three big categories The first one includes natural areas or areas with an extensive agriculture. The second one is characterized by agricultural areas with low naturalness and few protected areas. Finally, in the third category are included areas that represent an evident contrast between city and countryside. In the end it has been analyzed in more detail one of the most widespread agricultural models: the educational farm. Educational farms spread from the end of the twentieth century, at the beginning in north Europe with the ¿Club 4H¿young movement, then in all Europe from north to south. The report analyses some models of educational public and private farms in Piemonte. The aim is to outline the common characteristics. It highlights design elements related to the present spaces and the activities, conducted in relation to the age of the users. In conclusion, the peri-urban agricultural areas are unstable areas, widely debated and in which we can assist in continual proposal for new opportunities.
