Alla ricerca delle criticità del sistema di istruzione in India attraverso un'indagine sul campo e alcune rappresentazioni letterarie e cinematografiche.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the critical issues concerning the Indian educational system. In the first part of this thesis, the main characteristics of the school system in India, its inner organization, the administration policies and the still existing problems will be outlined. In the second chapter, two movies (3 Idiots and Tāre zamīn par) and two short stories (Paccīs caukā ḍeṛh sau and Bhūlnā) connected with the main topic will be analysed. The examination of these films and texts will be extremely useful for studying the educational system of this country from different points of view and for the comprehension of the idea that cinema and literature have about education. In the third and last chapter, thirty boys and girls from the Mahātmā Gāṃdhī Aṃtarrāṣṭrīya Hindī Viśvavidyālaya (MGAHV) will tell their own experiences. Through their interviews the students' real life inside this critical environment will be clear. The dissertation ends with a comparative study between the cinematographic and literary representations and the reality of the MGAHV students. The main goal of this comparison is to enlighten the perspectives about Indian educational system that both real life and fiction have in common and that, at the same time, distinguish them to each others. In this way it is possible to realise what happens for real inside the Indian school system and at the contrary what is product of directors' and writers' opinions and fantasy.

Il seguente lavoro affronta nel corso di tre capitoli le diverse criticità del sistema di istruzione indiano. Nel primo capitolo vengono delineate le caratteristiche principali su cui si basa la struttura scolastica in India, la sua organizzazione interna, le politiche del governo e i problemi che la riguardano ancora oggi. Nel secondo capitolo, vengono presentati due film (3 Idiots e Tāre zamīn par) e due racconti (Paccīs caukā ḍeṛh sau e Bhūlnā) tratti dal mondo cinematografico e letterario indiano, legati al tema principale di discussione. Lo studio approfondito di queste pellicole e testi permette di analizzare l'istruzione di questo Paese da diversi punti di vista e di comprendere la visione che il cinema e la letteratura hanno di essa. Nel terzo capitolo, vengono esposte le esperienze di trenta ragazze e ragazzi della Mahātmā Gāṃdhī Aṃtarrāṣṭrīya Hindī Viśvavidyālay (MGAHV) di Wardha. Attraverso le loro interviste è possibile ottenere una visione reale, vissuta all'interno del sistema e a contatto con le sue diverse criticità. A conclusione del lavoro viene sviluppato un confronto tra le rappresentazioni cinematografico - letterarie e la realtà degli studenti della MGAHV, realizzato con l'obiettivo di portare in luce gli aspetti che li accomunano e li distinguono sulla visione della scuola in India. In questo modo è possibile comprendere se quanto narrato nelle opere di fantasia di autori e registi trova riscontro nella vita reale.
