La retorica in Hobbes: l'interpretazione di Skinner

The thesis analyzes Quentin Skinner's interpretation of the use of rhetoric in Hobbes. After an analysis of the fundamental aspects and techniques of rhetoric, it proceeds with the Hobbesʼ critics to the different rhetorical devices, showing specifically how he does not use them in his works. Then it moves on to analyze the philosopher's change in the vision of the discipline, focusing on the use of the same rhetorical devices previously criticized. The analysis of this change is paticularly current since, today, the rhetoric has managed to take space within the sciences.

La tesi analizza l'interpretazione da parte di Quentin Skinner dell'utilizzo della retorica in Hobbes. Dopo un'iniziale analisi degli aspetti e delle tecniche fondamentali della retorica, si procede con le critiche apportate da Hobbes ai differenti strumenti retorici, mostrando nello specifico come nelle sue opere non ne faccia utilizzo. Si passa successivamente ad analizzare il cambiamento del filosofo sulla visione di tale disciplina, focalizzandosi sull'utilizzo degli stessi strumenti retorici precedentemente criticati. Lʼanalisi di questo cambiamento risulta molto attuale visto lo spazio che la retorica è riuscita a prendersi oggi allʼinterno delle scienze.
