Donne e Mafia: tra silenzio e potere

Inside the paper I will expose the world of the mafia. In more detail I will address the female mafia world talking about the figure of the woman and the evolution of the woman from a simple housewife to a woman "mafia boss". I will start by illustrating the world of Cosa Nostra, talking about the structure, culture and values that exist within it, and the way women were described and treated by society, and the prejudices that were created around the image of woman. Also important will be the debate faced by some well-known authors regarding the emancipation of women, and the path taken during their life and career within Cosa Nostra, explaining how the figure of the woman took over mafia world, and how it has carved out a significant part within the association. Subsequently I will address the roles most played by women in the organization, therefore talking about the influence that their image entails to the criminal association, exposing most of the functions that brought them to emancipate themselves and no longer be women subordinated to male power, but become themselves holders of power. I will therefore speak of women of power, criminal women, women who chose this path or because they were forced, or because they feel they have belonged to the mafia world for a long time , as one of the main values of Cosa Nostra was to educate children through the values of the Mafia code. In addition to the roles, the power women assume during the absence of their husband for reasons of hiding or incarceration will also be depicted, showing how women carry on the organization in her absence, and how women communicate what happen in the outside world to their husband. The man of honor once imprisoned continues his activity behind bars with the help of his woman, who many times is used as a tool to be able to run your organization, as the woman was considered a less risky subject for society than the man of honor because she was able to manage the mother's life inside the home and the mafia life outside, without arousing any suspicion. In more detail I will expose the cases of some of the most important women who have made history both by holding power and by abandoning it becoming collaborators of justice, thus helping the judiciary to trace the darkest secrets of the Cosa Nostra. ​

All'interno dell'elaborato esporrò il mondo della mafia. In maniera più approfondita affronterò il mondo mafioso al femminile parlando della figura della donna e dell'evoluzione della donna da semplice casalinga a “donna capo mafia”. Inizierò illustrando il mondo di Cosa Nostra, parlando della struttura, della cultura e dei valori che vigono all'interno di essa, e del modo in cui le donne venivano descritte e trattate dalla società e dei pregiudizi che si creavano attorno all'immagine della donna. Importante sarà anche il dibattito affrontato da alcuni noti autori riguardo l'emancipazione della donna, e del percorso svolto dalle medesime, durante la loro vita e la loro carriera all'interno di Cosa Nostra, spiegando in che modo la figura della donna sia subentrata nel mondo mafioso, e in che modo essa si sia ritagliata una notevole parte all'interno dell'associazione. Successivamente affronterò i ruoli maggiormente svolti dalla donna nell'organizzazione, parlando perciò anche dell'influenza che la loro immagine comporta all'associazione criminale, esponendo gran parte delle funzioni che le hanno portate ad emanciparsi e a non essere più donne subordinate al potere maschile, ma a divenire esse stesse detentrici del potere. Parlerò perciò di donne del potere, donne criminali, donne che hanno scelto questo percorso o perché costrette, o perché sentivano di appartenervi da tempo in quanto uno dei valori principali di cosa nostra era educare i figli attraverso i valori del codice mafioso. Oltre ai ruoli, verrà raffigurato anche il potere che le donne assumono durante l'assenza del marito per motivi di latitanza o di incarcerazione, mostrando in che modo le donne portino avanti l'organizzazione in sua assenza, e in che modo le donne comunichino ciò che avviene nel mondo esterno al proprio marito, in quanto l'uomo d'onore una volta incarcerato continua la sua attività dietro le sbarre con l'aiuto della propria donna, la quale molte volte viene utilizzata come strumento per poter mandare avanti la propria organizzazione, in quanto la donna veniva considerata un soggetto meno rischioso per la società rispetto all'uomo d'onore perché era in grado di gestire la vita da madre all'interno delle mura domestiche e la vita da mafiosa all'esterno, senza destare alcun sospetto. In maniera più approfondita esporrò i casi di alcune delle donne più importanti che hanno fatto la storia sia detenendo il potere, sia abbandonandolo diventando collaboratrici di giustizia, aiutando così la magistratura a risalire ai segreti più oscuri di Cosa Nostra. ​
