Subject: The Role of the English Language in the Business World Business is based on communication and building relationships with colleagues, partners, competitors or customers. The understanding of information about the topics covered is essential, especially in the area of business and the exchange of important information. In this context, a common knowledge of a specific language is therefore essential. In this work, the predominance of the English language and its use is highlighted. Thanks to the experiences of three companies of different sizesanalysed in the work, it is how important the knowledge of the English language and its learning is nowadays, especially on the workplace. The current scenario of the hiring of employees is taking on complex forms, where the objectives see the involvement of numerous international players, where the requirement of a thorough knowledge of the English language, both from the general point of view and the technical aspect of interaction, is now fundamental. In fact, it should be pointed out that in the business world, BELF, a technical terminology of the sector, with its own vocabulary, has emerged, and is essential to know how to set up a professional and targeted conversation. This work aims to address the importance of English and how it has established itself as the language of Business. Furthermore, Business English as a new emerging language will be analysed, with its specific terminology and levels of teaching and learning. In addition, the clear difference between general and technical English and their close interdependence will be investigated. English, which is fundamental in international exchanges, is considered by companies to be the official language of the business world. It is essential for those entering the labour market to have an appropriate language level to face the challenges they will encounter in their careers. In this regard, the importance of the language certifications available on the market is also discussed, which are used both in the academic and work environment fields to certify the language level possessed. The work includes the experience of Ms. Karen Lynn Maddick, an experienced teacher who, among her various assignments, teaches both at the SAA and at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Turin, as well as being a Cambridge examiner. She provides the relevant aspects concerning the importance and evolution of English language teaching over the years, underlining also, thanks to her experience, the importance of the English language within companies and how the level required by employers has risen over the years. Ms Maddick reinforced the results that emerged from a survey, where 34 participants collaborated freely to provide answers regarding their teaching experience, The work also includes the testimony of three important companies of different magnitude and size including one of the most important corporations in the world, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, to highlight the importance and predominance of the use of the English language in communication in international business. In conclusion, it is clear that the language learning process and the role of Business English in the world of work today is deemed to be essential, by learners, teachers and companies.
