Il Ramadan in Italia: il mese del sawm in alcune realtà provinciali calabresi

The work shows the way in which the month of Ramaḍān is lived in a migratory context and, in particular, in my area of birth: the province of Reggio Calabria. The thesis was built by combining bibliographic research and conducting interviews. It is made of three chapters: in the first chapter I analyze the presence of Islam in Italy, the migration phenomenon and the presence of second generations, Islamic associations, the creation of Islamic cultural centers and the formation of imām. In the second chapter I focus on the theme of the Koranic revelation and fundamental Islamic principles, specially on the importance of fasting during the month of Ramaḍān and on the debate about the beginning of the sacred month. In the third chapter, thanks to the interviews with Calabrian religious subjects, I show the various aspects that distinguish the way of living Islam in the Calabria region.

Il lavoro indaga il modo in cui viene vissuto il mese di Ramaḍān in contesto migratorio e, in particolare, nella mia zona di nascita: la provincia di Reggio Calabria. La tesi è stata costruita unendo ricerca bibliografica e la conduzione di interviste. Si sviluppa su tre capitoli: nel primo analizzo la presenza dell'Islam in Italia, il fenomeno migratorio e la presenza di seconde generazioni, l'associazionismo islamico, la creazione di centri culturali islamici e la formazione degli imām. Nel secondo capitolo affronto il tema della rivelazione coranica e dei principi fondamentali islamici, soffermandomi sull'importanza del digiuno durante il mese di Ramaḍān e sul dibattito in merito all'inizio del mese sacro. Nel terzo capitolo, grazie a delle interviste rivolte a personalità religiose calabresi, espongo i vari aspetti che contraddistinguono il modo di vivere l'Islam nella regione Calabria.
