Analisi di tre sceneggiature: Manchester by the Sea(2016) di Kenneth Lonergan, Il Caso Spotlight(2015) di Tom McCarthy e Josh Singer, Il Sospetto(2012) di Thomas Vinterberg e Tobias Lindholm

In this dissertation, I will analyze three different movie scripts written by different screenwriters. Two of these screenplays are Oscar-winners for the best original screenplay. Manchester by the sea(2016) written by Kenneth Lonergan in which the author investigates by means of flashback as the narrative device, the reasons why the protagonist, Lee Chandler, is not able to communicate with the society. Spotlight(2015) was written by Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer, demonstrates the long-term process of investigative journalists of Boston Globe to reveal the massive cases of pedophile fathers in the Catholic Church during thirty years. Spotlight is a genre movie and is compared by some people with All the president's Men(1979). The hunt(2012)in original language jagten, is a danish movie nominated for the best foreign film in Oscar, is written by co-founder of Dogma 95, Thomas Vinterberg and his co-scriptwriter Tobias Lindholm. The script focuses on the life of Lukas, a kindergarten teacher before and after the lie which is told by Klara, his best friend daughter and his student. Lukas is accused of indecent exposure and he should prove his innocency. The narrative owns to fable structure and manhunt genre movie. The common aspect of these three scripts is individual confrontation versus the society, especially: In Manchester by the sea, Lee's confrontation with his indelible past. In Spotlight, the investigative journalism versus the Catholic Church as a corrupt system. In The Hunt, individual versus a small masculine community as a metaphor of neonationalism emerging in western developed countries.

In questa tesi vengono analizzate tre sceneggiature con soggetto originale scritti da autori diversi, tra cui due sono premiati all'Oscar per la miglior sceneggiatura originale. Manchester by the Sea(2016) scritto da drammaturgo statunitense Kenneth Lonergan in cui indaga le motivi di isolamento del personaggio Lee Chandler dalla società di cui appartiene tramite il flashback come lo strumento narrativo. Il caso Spotlight(2015) scritto a quattro mani da Tom McCarthy e Josh Singer e dimostra lungo processo di ricerca dei giornalisti del gruppo Spotlight del giornale Boston Globe. La struttura narrativa segue la strada del genere e da molti viene confrontato con Tutti gli uomini del presidente (1976) diretto da Alan J. Pakula. Il Sospetto(2012) in lingua originale jagten e in inglese The Hunt, è scritto dal cofondatore di Dogma 95, Thomas Vinterberg e da Tobias Lindholm in cui la bugia di una bambina sconvolge la vita privata e sociale di un adulto. La narrazione segue sia i tratti di fiaba che la struttura del genere manhunt. L'aspetto comune in tutte e tre vicende è confronto dell'individuo con la società e con il suo passato non cancellabile in Manchester by the Sea, con l'istituzione della chiesa cattolica (nascondimento di migliaia di preti pedofili) e con la comunità e le logiche della nazione e neonazionalismi nella società sviluppati dell'occidente.
