Punk is (not) dead? - Il punk hardcore torinese dagli anni Ottanta a oggi

Punk hardcore is a cultural movement and music genre, born in the beginning of 80’ and had between its major centre, both in Italy and Europe, a lot of industrial cities. Turin is not just one of them, but Turin punk hardcore become very popular and some of the best groups could even go playing their music in the USA. Through the history of italian punk, and in particular punk in Turin, this graduation thesis wonders if punk is still alive or if it’s true, as Crass used to sing, that punk is dead. Personal story of punk hardcore musicians is analyzed, especially musicians from Declino, Negazione and Indigesti, and in the end we find out who they are and what they do in their life nowadays. We go over the history of places in Turin where punk hardcore was born and where it was spread. The thesis ends up affirming that punk hardcore did not just have a great influence in culture and in lives of people who played and lived it, but that the attitud it was born from still survives, declined in different genres and arts.

Il punk harcore è un movimento culturale e uno stile musicale nato all’inizio degli anni Ottanta che ha avuto fra i suoi centri maggiori, in Italia e in Europa, molte città industriali. Torino non solo è fra queste, ma l’hardcore torinese ha fatto scuola e alcuni dei gruppi maggiori vantano addirittura tour negli Stati Uniti. Attraverso la storia del movimento punk in Italia, e in particolare a Torino, la tesi si domanda se il punk sia sopravvissuto al tempo o se sia vero, come cantavano i Crass, che è morto. Viene analizzata la storia personale dei musicisti, in particolare dei gruppi Declino, Negazione e Indigesti, e in seguito si scopre chi siano e cosa facciano oggi quelli che sono stati i protagonisti del punk hardcore. Viene anche ripercorsa la storia di quelli che sono stati i luoghi chiave per la nascita e la diffusione del movimento a Torino. La tesi arriva nel finale ad affermare che il punk hardcore non solo ha avuto una forte influenza nella cultura e nelle vite private di chi l’ha suonato e vissuto, ma che l’attitudine da cui è nato sopravvive, pur declinandosi in generi e arti diverse.
