Il tempo festivo nell'Antica Grecia: feste e rituali nella polis di Atene.

The feasts, which may be regarded as the days established by the poleis for the worship of deities, were the beating heart of Greek civilization. In the ancient world the religious aspect not only guided the spiritual aspect of individuals, but also often influenced the political and social world. The festive occasions set the rhythm of the year and the city life and, through these, the inhabitants were able to share symbols and meet in public places to participate together in the different stages of the rites. Although the festivities have been somewhat underestimated, at least outside the religious field, they show wide significant elements, which allow a better understanding of Greek culture. The purpose of this work is precisely to describe the ceremonial linked to the festive days in the polis, particularly in Athens, seeking to provide a general picture of how the year should be marked from a religious point of view, bearing in mind that the holidays reflect the community that celebrates them and show its social organization and values, his concerns and hopes and above all show the way in which society shapes its relationship with the gods and the religious sphere.

Le feste, che si possono considerare come i giorni stabiliti dalle poleis per il culto delle divinità, sono state il cuore pulsante della civiltà greca. Nel mondo antico l'aspetto religioso guidava non solo l'aspetto spirituale dei singoli individui, ma spesso influenzava anche il mondo politico e sociale. Le occasioni festive impostavano il ritmo dell'anno e della vita cittadina e, tramite queste, gli abitanti erano in grado di condividere simboli e di incontrarsi nei luoghi pubblici per partecipare insieme alle diverse fasi dei riti. Nonostante le feste siano state in qualche modo sottostimate, almeno al di fuori del campo religioso, mostrano ampli elementi significativi, che permettono di comprendere meglio la cultura greca. Scopo di questo lavoro è proprio quello di descrivere il cerimoniale legato ai giorni festivi nella polis, in particolare di Atene, cercando di fornire un quadro generale di come doveva essere scandito l'anno dal punto di vista religioso tenendo presente che le feste rispecchiano la comunità che le celebra e mostrano la sua organizzazione sociale e i suoi valori, le sue preoccupazioni e speranze e soprattutto mostrano il modo in cui la società plasma il suo rapporto con gli dei e la sfera religiosa.
