La Clôture di Jean Rolin e Un livre blanc di Philippe Vasset: uno sguardo letterario sui margini urbani e sociali

This research intends to analyse two works of the French contemporary literature, La Cloture (2000) by Jean Rolin and Un livre blanc (2007) by Philippe Vasset. While using different approaches and compositional techniques, both texts address the topic of the urban margins, highlighting the complexity and the most problematic aspects of the peri-urban aeras. At the centre of this works is the suburbs of Paris, notably the area between the XIX arrondissement and the municipalities of Saint-Denis, Aubervilliers and Pantin, on the north of the city. This research aims at studying the compositional structure and the general features of La Clôture and Un livre blanc to understand how contemporary literature address the topic of suburbs and social margins. First, I will analyse the historical and literary context in which the works are inserted. Secondly, I will focus on Rolin and Vasset's use of methods and tools of social sciences. Finally, I will study the literary dimension of the texts, showing how the stylistic procedures and the compositional choices employed by the authors are adequate to deal with urban and social margins. This research will explain how this kind of writing, which combines narrative elements and features typical of the documentary chronicles, provides a precise analysis of the real and is able to involve the reader

Il presente lavoro intende analizzare due opere della letteratura contemporanea francese, Un livre blanc (Fayard, 2007) di Philippe Vasset e La Clôture (P:O:L éditeur, 2002) di Jean Rolin. Questi due testi, seppur adottando approcci e tecniche compositive differenti, affrontano entrambi il tema dei margini urbani, mettendo in luce la complessità e gli aspetti più problematici delle aree periurbane. Al centro delle opere vi è la periferia di Parigi, in particolare l'area compresa tra il XIX arrondissement e i comuni di Saint-Denis, Aubervilliers e Pantin, a nord della città. L'obiettivo di questa ricerca è studiare la struttura compositiva e le caratteristiche generali di Un livre blanc e La Clôture, per comprendere in che modo la letteratura può affrontare il tema delle periferie e dei margini sociali. In primo luogo, si analizzerà il contesto storico e letterario in cui le opere in questione si inseriscono. In seguito, ci si concentrerà sul ricorso, da parte di Rolin e Vasset, a metodi e strumenti delle scienze sociali. Infine, si studierà la dimensione strettamente letteraria dei testi, mostrando come i procedimenti stilistici e le scelte compositive adottati dagli autori risultino adeguati ad affrontare il discorso sui margini urbani e sociali. Questo studio ci permetterà di capire come questa forma di scrittura, che unisce elementi narrativi a caratteri tipici delle cronache documentarie, fornisca un'analisi del reale precisa e sia capace di coinvolgere il lettore
