La tesi in questione si pone il problema di analizzare più influenti cambiamenti che avvengono a livello psicofisico in seguito ad ascolto musicale, che può essere attivo o passivo. Le emozioni sono un tema principale, e viene descritto come si attivano e mutano attraverso la musica, facendo riferimento al mozart effect. Un'importante peso assume anche il cambiamento cardiaco e annessi, oltre che i metodi fin qui conosciuti per utilizzare la musica come trattamento terapeutico.
