Le conseguenze a lungo termine del maltrattamento fisico infantile: un confronto tra violenza subita e violenza assistita

This systematic review examines the long-term consequences of childhood physical abuse, by comparing the physical violence and witnessed violence. The goal is to determine if the children, victims of witnessed violence, they face the same consequences of children victims of physical abuse, when they become adults. Previous studies have always considered the two forms of violence separately and a few times it was made a comparison. The first part of the research describes the maltreatment, its different types and its consequences, with special attention to physical abuse and witnessed violence. The second part describes the results obtained after the reading of the articles (n.8 articles related to physical abuse and n.7 articles related to witnessed violence, N = 15) and they are discussed according to the theoretical premise. This research has enabled the identification of psychopathological outcomes in both forms of violence, both behavioral and psychological. However, physical abuse shows more behavioral consequences, such as the use of illicit drugs and alcohol, crime and eating disorders. It was not identified a significant relationship between witnessed violence and these behavioral outcomes, but there is a greater effect of protective factors and a lot of relational and emotional consequences. It concludes by stating the need not to underestimate the impact of witnessed violence in adult life.

La presente systematic review analizza le conseguenze a lungo termine del maltrattamento fisico infantile, confrontando la violenza subita e la violenza assistita. L'obiettivo è quello di determinare se i bambini, vittime di violenza assistita, vanno incontro alle stesse conseguenze dei bambini vittime di abuso fisico, una volta diventati adulti. I precedenti studi, infatti, hanno sempre preso in considerazione le due forme di violenza separatamente e poche volte ne è stato fatto un confronto. Nella prima parte della ricerca si definisce il maltrattamento, le sue diverse tipologie e le relative conseguenze, con una particolare attenzione al maltrattamento fisico e alla violenza assistita. Nella seconda parte vengono descritti i risultati ottenuti dopo la lettura degli articoli ( n.8 articoli relativi all'abuso fisico e n.7 articoli relativi alla violenza assistita, N=15) e vengono discussi alla luce della premessa teorica. Questa ricerca ha permesso di identificare esiti psicopatologici in entrambe le forme di violenza, sia a livello comportamentale che psicologico. Tuttavia, il maltrattamento fisico mostra maggiori conseguenze comportamentali, come l'uso di sostanze illecite e di alcol, criminalità e disturbi del comportamento alimentare. Non è stata individuata una relazione significativa tra la violenza assistita e questi esiti a livello comportamentale, ma si riscontra un maggior effetto dei fattori di protezione e numerose conseguenze a livello relazionale ed emotivo. Si conclude affermando la necessità di non sottovalutare l'impatto della violenza assistita nella vita adulta.
