There are countless examples of certified companies not achieving their full potential from an ISO 9000 certification and therefore not achieving a satisfactory result. Often this is related to lack of commitment by management but more commonly it is due to improper implementation. In order to remedy this issue, this paper first addresses obstacles and barriers involved with the implementation and then continues to develop guidelines in order to support the implementation of ISO 9000 standards and ensure continuous improvement of the processes. The proposed implementation guide is divided into three steps: ex-ante implementation phase, the implementation phase and the ex-post implementation phase. These provide detailed guidelines for companies and aim to ensure a successful and advantageous implementation of the standards.
