"Brennerova" di Wolf Haas, traduzione e commento

The present paper presents the full translation of Wolf Haas' novel Brennerova. The book, published in 2014, is the author's latest crime novel with the character of Simon Brenner, former policeman and private detective, whose adventures have also been turned into films for Austrian, Swiss and German audiences. Translating Haas is a stimulating challenge, because his writing has a very personal style that plays with features typical for the spoken language. The sometimes maniacal use of these features makes for a veritable Haas sound, perhaps not so surprising for a trained linguist. The author modulates the language with sentence structures borrowed from spoken language, he designs ad hoc neologisms and lexical constructions with ease, and creates a closeness between the reader and the allwissender Erzähler, the omniscient and omnipresent narrator, to which the author gives pervasive force and authority. A linguistic translation commentary follows to explain the strategies adopted for its realisation.

Il presente lavoro propone la traduzione integrale del romanzo Brennerova di Wolf Haas. Il libro, uscito nel 2014, è l'ultima pubblicazione dell'autore sul personaggio di Simon Brenner, ex poliziotto e detective privato, le cui avventure sono state anche trasposte in versione cinematografica per il pubblico austriaco, svizzero e tedesco. Tradurre Haas è una sfida stimolante, perché la sua scrittura ha uno stile assolutamente personale che gioca con le caratteristiche tipiche della lingua parlata. L'uso talvolta maniacale di queste caratteristiche crea un vero e proprio Haas's sound, che non deve sorprendere provenendo da un esperto linguista. L'autore modula il linguaggio con strutture sintattiche mutuate dalla lingua parlata, ideando con disinvoltura neologismi e costruzioni lessicali ad hoc, creando intimità tra il lettore e l'allwissender Erzähler, la voce narrante onnisciente e onnipresente, alla quale l'autore dà forza pervasiva e autorità. Alla traduzione segue un commento linguistico-traduttivo in cui sono illustrate le strategie adottate per la sua realizzazione.
