Il Mondo dei Parent Training come supporto per i genitori di bambini con Disturbo dello Spettro Autistico

Growing, caring for and helping children with autism can often turn out to be particularly difficult for their parents and families. Parents always show an increase both in parenting stress and in mental and physical health problems, together with a decrease of parenting efficacy. Furthermore, they have higher rates of divorce compared with parents of both typically developing children and children with other developmental disorders. These are only some of the most encountered problems. Most interventions for ASD are created for child outcomes, and there are lot of studies demonstrating the efficacy of those treatments, but some of the parents' outcomes are ignored. The present research will deal with the parents' outcomes after participating in different parent trainings. The Parent Training is a therapeutic method aiming to take care of the parents, to give them a guide and a practical help in order to face the small and big problems related to growing their children. The aim of this research has been to analyze the literature concerning different kinds of parent training. In particular, it has been analyzed the efficacy of psychoeducational treatment, like transitioning together, therapies mediate by parents, mainly the Early Start Denver Model-that is an early intervention- and, finally, the Acceptance and Commitment therapy.

Crescere, curare e aiutare un bambini con autismo spesso può rivelarsi particolarmente difficile per i genitori e le loro famiglie. I genitori mostrano sovente un aumento del livello sia dello stress che dei problemi di salute mentale e fisica, con una diminuzione della percezione dell'efficacia genitoriale. Inoltre, spesso si riscontrano tassi più alti di divorzio rispetto ai genitori sia di bambini con sviluppo tipico, che di bambini con altri disturbi dello sviluppo. Questi però sono solo alcuni dei problemi più frequenti. La maggior parte degli interventi presenti sono stati creati per aiutare i bambini con ASD e ci sono molti studi che dimostrano l'efficacia di questi trattamenti, ma non sempre i genitori vengono presi in considerazione. La presente ricerca valuta i risultati dei genitori dopo aver partecipato a diversi corsi di parent training. Il Parent Training è un metodo terapeutico che mira a prendersi cura dei genitori, per dare loro una guida e un aiuto pratico per affrontare i piccoli e grandi problemi legati alla crescita dei loro figli. Lo scopo di questa ricerca è stato quello di analizzare la letteratura presente sui diversi tipi di training genitoriale. In particolare, è stato analizzata l'efficacia del trattamento psicoeducativo, come ad esempio il transitioning together, le terapie mediate dai genitori, soprattutto L'Early Start Denver Model e, infine, Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
